Our services are not limited to just capturing the images. As digital artists, the other half of our craft comes into play with the final touches we put on our photographs before production, as well as the framing, canvas and other mediums used. 

We are known for our custom creations in layouts, storyboards, graphics and so much more. 

We are not a "shoot and burn" studio.

The process:

“There are four simple steps we take you through which are all part of the studio photography experience”

1. Portrait Planning Session:  The first stage of your portrait photography experience at Cherished Photography begins with a complimentary portrait planning session, also known as a consultation. This is our opportunity to customize and plan the finer points of your photography shoot. We will discuss our different styles of photography and the appropriate clothing for your chosen style as well as location options. We will plan the best way to decorate your home with personalized portrait wall art. We have different frame-sizes and photography collections which are designed with you and your home in mind. Once you have had your portrait planning session you will be fully prepared for your photography shoot and have an understanding of the investment involved.
2. Photography Shoot: With the planning session now behind you, your photographer will have a full understanding of your goals for your portrait session. With this in mind we will set about capturing portrait images that truly reflect you and your family. We will help you and your children relax in our comfortable, modern photography studio and encourage you to express yourselves. 
3. Portrait Design Appointment:  (Also known as the viewing appointment) A week after the shoot you will return for your design appointment. In the viewing gallery in our studio you will see your ideas from the planning session come alive. We carefully edit and prepare the best images and guide you through the design/ordering process. Here you’ll understand that they are not just images but a piece of art you will hand down to future generations. With our state of the art software, you are able to view your images on a digital representation of your own walls. We ask that you provide us with a photo with which to do this and instructions are given on how to do so.
4. Collection Of Photography: Once your order is placed, your portraits are enhanced and hand crafted in our in-house printing workshop. Fully finished portraits are ready to collect between six to eight weeks after your design appointment, allowing you to share, cherish and display your definitive moments captured by Cherished Photography for years to come. This final stage completes the portrait cycle at Cherished Photography....until next time. =)

What is included in the session package?

1 hour session: consultation, photo session in-studio or on location, viewing/portrait design appointment, (1) 11x14 framed image, (1) 10-image wallet album, branded low-res files of images chosen for package and purchased.

30 min session: consultation, photo session in-studio or on location, viewing/portrait design appointment, (1) 8x10 image (framing sold separately), branded low-res files of images chosen for package and purchased.

What are my digital file options?

First I want to explain the difference in the types of digital files available....

• Branded low-res files: Low-res files with our watermark copyright. They are for use on the web for social media, emailing and personal archiving. They can not and may not be printed or cropped to remove our copyright.
• Branding free low-res files: Low-res files with NO watermark (images are still the copyright of Cherished Photography). These are also for use on the web for social media, emailing and personal archiving. They can not and may not be printed.
• High-res files: Full resolution files that are printable. These files are purchased with a "limited printright" (Cherished Photography retains the copyright). They may be used for any personal purpose and archiving.

Are digital files included in the session package?

Branded low-res files of the images chosen for the session package and anything purchased additionally are included. (Please see above explanation about branded low-res files.) 30min session: 1 image included plus anything purchased. 1hr session: up to 11 images included plus anything purchased.

You may purchase high-res files as part of a "collection package" with an initial investment of $425+.

Why don't we get a disk with all the high-res images?

Our services are not limited to just capturing the images. We are not a "shoot and burn" studio. As digital artists, the other half of our craft comes into play with the final touches we put on our photographs before production, as well as the framing, canvas and other mediums used. We have found that when clients simply receive a disk of images it leave all the work in their hands and that is a great disservice. It has been our experience that the clients rarely do more with them than put them up on social media sites and really just want the feeling of security by having the images in-hand. When you think about it, the way technology changes so quickly, the disk is going to be outdated in no time. Do we still think the 8track tapes from our parents and grandparents is an accessible and viable format in modern day? The same thing will be true for the disk. For those clients who want something to last the test of time, that is why we are here. To produce the heirloom pieces that can and will be passed down the generations and enjoyed rather than shoved in a drawer, damaged and outdated.

Can we skip either the consultation or the viewing/design appointment?

The type of full service experience we deliver requires each step in the process and have found this system to be in the best interest of our clients.

The viewing/design appointment is SO much more than just looking at a slideshow of your images on our big screen. We walk you through (step-by-step) all aspects of decorating your home with your heirloom family art and you get to see your images on your own walls in a variety of frames, design layouts and MORE. Technology is FANTASTIC and we make the most of it with your images!

The web gallery is posted as a courtesy after the initial viewing at the studio for the purpose of a fun sharing with friends and family. This is not meant to, nor is it available to take the place of the studio viewing.

What if we are just here on vacation and we won't be here for a viewing/design appointment?

As for the viewing/design appointment, typically that is a requisite but I understand that it may not actually be possible if you are only on island for a short time. If the circumstances truly do not allow you to be here for the viewing/design, then we make the acceptation to do it through email and the web gallery with the commitment of a $400 minimum purchase. The consultation, in this instance, becomes even more important and we want to work out a few more details than we would otherwise, rather than leaving certain decisions to the viewing/design time.

Our goal is not to get you stuck with something you do not need or can not use fully.
